What does the forthcoming US general election have to do with UFOs?

In 1977 when Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States was campaigning, he made a promise,

''If I become President, I'll make every piece of information this country has about UFO sightings available to the public and scientists. I am convinced that UFOs exist because I have seen one.''

In 1969, Carter claims to have seen a UFO in Georgia. When he got into office he went about trying to deliver on his promise. At that time George Bush senior was the director of the CIA, so Carter arranged to meet with Bush. Carter told Bush that he wanted the U.S. Government's UFO secret documents declassified so he could see them. George Bush more or less told Carter that the President of the United States did not have the need to know the information contained in those documents. The reason why Bush refused to declassify these documents was because it was known that Carter was going to release the information to the American people, and influential officials within the “black-ops” part of the government did not wish this to happen.

Carter was unperturbed at being thwarted by George Bush and tried a different tack to get to the information. Carter hired Daniel Sheehan who was then General Counsel to United States Jesuit Headquarters at their National Office in Washington D.C. Sheehan was instructed to get access to the Alien and UFO files known to reside in the Vatican. Sheehan was refused access many times, but on one occasion did gain access. He was however prevented from taking copies of documents or from making notes. He claims that he saw photographs of UFOs which had strange unrecognisable insignia along the side.

Sheehan reported what little information he discovered to Carter, but Carter did not reveal anything to the public.

In the past it has generally been Democrats like Carter that have wanted the information disclosed to the public. This may well be the reason for President Kennedy’s assassination. Republicans such as Reagan and Bush were involved in the UFO cover up. Democrat, Barack Obama is now odds on to win the presidency. Obama being a newcomer is not yet entrenched in the complex procedures of government and might bring about some changes. Will he have the courage and conviction to reveal the truth about this long covered up subject?
